hacd, where lifelong bonds and a love of jewish living and learning develop.

My relationship with HACD started back in 1996 when we enrolled our oldest son in kindergarten.  My first thoughts were how long a ride it was from Niskayuna to our then location on Sand Creek Road in South Colonie.  I soon learned that I would be driving all over the Capital District as Ben, and later Steve made friends with their classmates from Clifton Park to Delmar, Esperance to North Chatham. At HACD they learned their aleph-bets, Rube-Goldberg projects, visiting our Seniors at Daughters of Sarah, a love of Israel and so much more in a safe, loving environment which formed their Jewish Identities.  They both have created Jewish homes and continue to stay in contact with many of their HACD friends.

Though many things have changed since then, HACD continues to be a special jewel where our teachers strive to mold each child to be their best selves. Whenever I am in the building, as I walk through the hallways, I can hear children’s voices singing, davening, talking, laughing as they engage with their teachers and fellow students. The parent Wednesday Update and monthly community Devrei HaYamim proudly share the learning and special activities each cohort participated in that week. Through our dedicated administration, educational standards, both secular and Jewish are maintained and enhanced while maintaining the Jewish Values of justice, kindness and Tikkun Olam. Our parents, whether through Parent Organization, or Board of Trustees or just wanting to help, are constant role models of a Jewish Community, where everyone pitches in to make our school the best it can be.

I am honored and proud to be part of HACD’s continuing mission to provide an education to all who desire it, regardless of financial need, that is immersed in Jewish Traditions, Community Values and Academic Excellence, and hope that you will be part of our HACD community.
